What: Its Hokkaido cupcake ($2) is a fluffy cake with a mousse centre that comes in flavours such as lemon, chocolate, green tea and strawberry.

CHINTA MANIS

What: A range of Nonya kueh such as kueh dadar ($1.20) and chendol agar-agar ($0.90, below, left) and Western cakes including its Chocolate Ecstasy, a dark chocolate cake ($4.50 for mini cake) and banana carrot cake ($2.50 per slice).

MIRABELLE PATISSERIE

What: Croissants are popular and come in flavours such as ham and cheese ($2) and almond ($2.20). But the bamboo charcoal custard bun is also a delight ($2).

SWEETSPOT

What: This European bakery and dessert shop sells everything from hand-made chocolates in flavours such as pear-brandy ($2.50 per piece) to cakes such as its signature Chocolate Paradigm ($9.10 individual portion).
